Coton : fibre végétale naturelle lisse, particulièrement douce, qui favorise un climat sain de la peau et n'irrite pas. Le coton est conseillé aussi en cas d'allergies. Par des traitements comme le mercerisage, les avantages du coton peuvent encore être renforcés.

Denim : toile robuste en coton ou en chanvre, dont l'armure sergée crée l'optique oblique cannelée. Les jeans ne sont pas toujours confectionnés à partir de denim.

Elasthanne : se caractérise surtout par sa grande élasticité. La fibre garde sa rigidité et ne perd ni sa forme, ni sa couleur, même après de nombreux lavages.

Polyester : fibre améliorée au cours des dernières années et parfois favorisée notamment à celle du coton, car elle sèche rapidement, est dotée d'une bonne respirabilité.
